Radio Presenter Writes A Poem Entitled: “There Is No God”

One FM radio presenter Adelle Onyango(pictured) is also famous for being a rather provocative poet outside of the booth. I discussed her poetry with her the other day, and she told me of her most thought-provoking poem which she aptly named “There Is No God.” I don’t want to give my own opinion about this one, lest I be lynched by a mob with flaming torches. Thankfully, however, Adelle gave me her permission to share the said poem with the Ghafla!Fans, so here it is:

THERE IS NO GOD

An engraved wooden door opens to a murder scene.

Graffiti stains of blood spell a story played over centuries.

What was, is and yet to be, responsible for what we’re seeing.

Tiles littered with pieces of fatalities.

The air is not a blanket of cries

No whimpers, no effortless sighs.

Just a thick blanket of silence

Marking an exit of a presence

I sit amidst this jungle of clues

We fought; we killed, because we were the truth.

My fingers tainted different shades of jealousy and rage.

Whilst off my tongue, rolls racism and hate

The murder plays over in my head,

The monster created during the 7 days echoed His death.

I lay down in a thick pool of blood,

As the reality of minutes past, begins to flood.

There is no God

We killed Him tonight.
