Octopizzo’s New Track His Greatest Yet! First 5 Ghafla Rating!
Octopizzo’s new track that features Anto Neosoul is finally out. And unlike what we are accustomed to from Octo, this one is a conscious track that covers the issue of politics.
Well actually, the issue of politically instigated and driven violence such as the type that rocked Kenya back in ’07. What impressed me was the harmony and instrumentals. You can just tell that Octopizzo had to dig down deep in order to do the track justice. Listening to him images of international acts such as “The Roots” and “Common” came to mind. And what about Anto? Well, i was reminded of John Legend. And do you know why?

Well, this track is reminiscent of The Roots and John Legend collaboration in the sense that it is about being aware of the repercussions of our decisions and the impact our actions will have to the country and our children.
The video is also well done and features a little girl whom i suspect is Octo’s daughter and the whole YGB clique. The lyrical content is on point with Octo at his finest and what i believe to be his most passionate delivers puchline after punchline after punchline. Because the buck stops with our leaders, he pulls no punches calling out the president for the theft of IDP relief food and then turns round to indict the populace for killing each other with “pangas”.

The lyrical wordplay in this track is graceful yet imposing at the same time. Kind of like a 100kg heavily built rugby player dancing past an opposing teams pack to score a try. He calls out our greedy MPigs for doing nothing but lining their pockets in Parliament and then a cut scene glides onto the screen that shows a study on corruption’s finding which lists Kenya as the most corrupt country in East Africa. And even the ICC suspects don’t get spared. And i am happy to report that Sonko that buffoon of a “Mheshimiwa” also gets a shot taken at him and his gaudy eye-rap*ng jewellery.
This by my estimate is Octo’s finest work to date and i can only pray that he keeps growing bigger and bigger and keeps getting better and better. Anto is on key and his melodious voice which he loans to the chorus compliments not just the instrumentals but Octo’s flow.

The only song i can think of that can be compared to this beautifully crafted hiphop track is “Wake Up Everybody” by The Roots, Common and John Legend.
Give this wonderfully crafted work of art a listen.
