Jaguar Finally Explains Why Matapeli Sounds Like Kigeugeu
Jaguar had been in the industry for a while, successful enough to get his songs on wide circulation and even major US tours.
But the singer’s career took a major turn when he released Kigeugeu, a conscious track that deals with issues from betrayal, politics and corruption. The song hit a chord with Kenyans locally and abroad. It is undoubtedly the most popular song in the last couple of years.
His follow-up seems to have the surefire success of the predecessor. With a video featuring comedians and even a politician, Matapeli seems to be following in the footsteps of Kigeugeu.
But some people think Matapeli sounds a little to much like Kigeugeu. That the singer is trying to copy-paste a formula that worked for him. Jaguar finally addressed those people.
When asked about the similarities, Jaguar exclusively told 1FM that the reason the two songs sound alike is because–wait for it–“they were done by the same person.” Yup, that is all. Now maybe people will get off Jaguar’s about the issue. Listen below and judge for yourself if Matapeli is a Kigeugeu knock-off.
