Survey Results: The Top Radio Stations in Nairobi
A recent survey shows that Radio Citizen has the highest share of all radio stations in the city. The Royal Media Services owned station has about 1/6 of the entire Nairobi market. This is likely due its extensive reach.
It is followed by Radio Africa Group’s Classic FM, which has about a 1/10 of the share. The same group’s Kiss FM comes in third with just a little less than a 1/10 of the share. It is said that highly rated Capital FM only barely made it to the top 20, with, reportedly, only about one percent of the share of Nairobi listeners.
Ghetto Radio’s randomness seems to be paying off as it has risen in the last year to gain 1/25 of the Nairobi audience, four times more than Capital Group’s Capital FM. Sports radio station, Radio Jambo holds 1/20 of the share. With 1/12 share, the vernacular radio station with the highest share in the city is Inooro FM. The relatively new One FM also managed to make it in the top 20.
