Revealed: How Raila Inspired Cartel’s Upcoming Video

Cartel Katenga has finally revealed where the Raila Dance came from. In an exclusive interview with Ghafla!, Cartel confirmed that contrary to popular opinion, the song is not political. But it’s not totally a work of fiction either.

Cartel says he got inspiration for the song during D’Banj’s Kenya concert last year at the Carnivore. He observed the Prime Minister, who was also in attendance, and after noticing that he had no bodily coordination whatsoever, he decided to convert his lackluster skills into a dance style.

He had planned on doing a social media campaign for dancers to come up with moves for the video but eventually settled for the Sarakasi Dancers. Below is a behind-the-scenes video of the making of Raila Dance. Keep it Ghafla! for details of the video’s release.
