Sauti Sol Scores Another First

Sauti Sol, the band who can be accredited with pioneering the recent afro-fusion movement in Kenyan music, have added another feather to their cap: they are now the first ever East African act to be featured in the critically acclaimed ‘Festival Sur La Niger.’

We have heard that they applied to attend the festival, an lucky for them, Mammou Diaffe, the director of the festival, had the benefit of watching them live in Amsterdam for himself. He was simply star struck by their performance and promptly signed them up to appear in the prestigious annual concert.

There are few things that could be better than this for Sauti Sol. They now get to perform amongst some of the biggest international African performers, who are also their biggest influences as well. The likes of Lokua Kanza, Selif Keita, Habib Koite, Boubacar Traore and Pape Diouf will be in attendance, so you can just get a feel of how big the ‘Festival Sur La Niger’ is. Put a marker on your calendar for the 15th to 19th of February, and be there or be square!
