If You Thought It Is Only Ethiopia Beating Us on The Ultra Modern Transportation Race,Check Out Rwanda’s Plans For The World’s First Dronport
Last week came the news of Ethiopia’s new modern trains and railway system. This came after the country’s airline had dominated the region’s airlines following the struggles KQ found itself in this year. Now, the region’s fastest growing economy Rwanda seems set to set not just an African but also a worldwide first.
Rwanda is set to build the world’s first droneport. This is not just a small scale issue since the design of the project are being done by the same architect who built the world’s largest airport, Lord Norman Foster. The company has already unveiled the plans with construction set to begin next year and end in 2020 in a project that would see three droneports created in the country. The aim is to allow for easy movement of medical supplies but the project also envisions the commercial use of the ports thus it will feature a blue line for the light weight medical supplies and a red line for the commercial drones with capacity to ferry up to 100 Kgs. of cargo.
