Kenyans Grumble Loudly To Kidero After 71 People Were Arrested Over Littering And Stepping On Grass

Last week, Evans Kidero deployed the Nairobi City County government’s Environmental Monitoring in a bid to curb littering, dumping and walking on grass.

We didn’t think it was serious until 71 people were arrested in the CBD. The offenders appeared before City Principle Magistrate M.W Njagi to face charges of littering.

Kidero says that the reason for these arbitrary arrests was that restoring Nairobi was expensive and they would do anything all within our powers to ensure sanity is brought back to this great city.

But Kenyans are not feeling this, mainly because these askaris are the vilest, most psychotic and most corrupt not forgetting cruel law-enforcers to ever walk the streets of Nairobi. Just last week traders complained of GETTING STABBED by the askaris, imagine that , they are actually worse offenders than the actual police.

And people have come out in droves to oppose this move writing this:

George Morara What a load of nonsense! Where did all the arresting resources come from where Nairobi is a den of crime with no police around! The grass has more security than the people! Priorities indeed!

Joe Bloggs Munyui Please fire all the hooligans from the county and employ mature human beings, trying to reason with these askaris is like trying to talk to a sheep, plus in that court you are guilty until proven guilty,

Coleman Onyango Ombok What happens which you do not know is that the first offenders are staff of NCCG. They do this to lure unsespecting Nairobians, pounce on and nastily hound them to court! This is abuse of power that you are extolling as good work, Mr. Governor. I repeat, you need someone to police your Police.

Pasiliano Olunga Absolute nonsense. Deal with issue of hawkers within the CBD. You need to understand that the hawkers contribute to almost 85% of litter within the CBD. You also need to erect notices in such areas so that law abiding citizens are not caught unaware. Again, your officers must be closely monitored. They may use this initiative to solicit bribes from victims.

John Jibebe This is so cheap…Alfred Mutua launching mega development projects, you and the rogue council askaris are launching man hunt over petty offenders. This is grand corrution as we know what happens in those courts.A victim is forced to accept the offence is supposed to pay a hefty fine

Macharia Wa Kamau Evans Kidero, you are the worst thing that has ever happened to Nairobi city. Do you know how many lives your askaris are killing, maiming, harrassing and extorting bribes. Employing hooligans in the name of law enforcement officers is hurting Nairobians, hawkers and common mwananchi in a big way. You should be taken to ICC.

Quirinius Pacho Zawadi You cant deploy unskilled people to harass us in the city in the name of law enforcement, the county askari and the police are enough, after all your county askaris have credibility issues on how they have been dealing with people they arrest, its all over in the media adding more of them to the city is wrong bwana Evans Kidero i say this as a voter who voted you and as resident of Nairobi City County
