Why Terryane Chebet, Julie Gichuru And Avril Are Walking With ‘Kiondos’ On Their Heads

They are part of the coveted clique of Nairobi’s ‘it’ girls and you are likely to find them with a Birkin bag in their arms instead of a kiondo.

But these there put aside their fancy handbags for a good cause. They joined the support system for Soko Bila Waste, an organization created by revered songbird Suzanna Owiyo.

The organization’s goal is ‘sensitizing the public on reducing food waste. It aims at cutting down the food that gets wasted in farms, markets, trans-markets, markets, restaurants, homes and other eateries.

It supports UNEP’s Global Food waste Campaign’ THINK EAT SAVE’, a global food waste campaign launched in 2013.

Aside from Julie, Terryanne and Avril Bernard Ndong, Big Ted and Jeff Koinange have also joined this campaign.
