Communication Authority of Kenya Cracks Its Whip Again! These Are The Six Stations That Have Been Shut Down
Ever since Communication Commission of Kenya changed its name to Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK), it has been ruthless in executing its mandate, the like of KTN, NTV, QTV and Citizen TV can tell it all.
The communications regulatory body has once again flexed its muscles to put six radio stations off air for transmitting unauthorized radio broadcast frequencies.
According to a statement dispatched to newsrooms, the six radio stations had breached the law by installing transmitters without acquiring lincences from CAK.
The authority said the transmitters were located in non-designated broadcasting sites and were bound to cause harmful interferences to duly licensed services including broadcasters, aviation, and other critical services.
CAK also said the six stations were interfering with transmissions in the neighboring countries since the frequency they were operating from conflicted with registered stations from the those countries.
All the six stations operated from Nyanza. They include; Milambo FM in Migori, Radio Pacho in Siaya, Sunset Radio in Homa Bay, Ugwe FM in Rongo Town, Radio Faith FM in Oyugis Town and Ekialo Kiona in Mfangano Island.
CAK has since impounded equipment used to transmit unauthorized radio broadcast frequencies that the said stations were using.
