Why Diamond’s Boo Zari Hassan Is Mad At Maina Kageni And Why The Classic 105 Presenter Should Apologize

A woman’s actual age is bound to be a sensitive matter when put into discussion. Especially if the woman is older. It’s quite obvious that as members of the female species age, they prefer keeping their ages classified. This always leads to speculation, approximations and estimations. So popular Classic 105 presenter Maina Kageni sat down and estimated that Diamond’s bae Zari Hassan’s age as 41 years.

Okay, estimation is not a sin. It’s totally fine to estimate but only if the actual bit of information or exact figure is unknown or debatable. Enter the problem. Zari’s age isn’t unknown or debatable. It’s public knowledge that she’s 34. The bio in her website clearly states so.

So why does Maina Kageni keeps reffering to her as a 41 year old woman every morning? Only the gods can tell us. The presenter has developed the habit of doing so after playing songs by Diamond- he loves playing songs by the Tanzanian star by the way. Maina loves Diamond. He’d kill a lion for Diamond. He’s always showering praises on Diamond like “What an artiste!!! What a true African man!! What a song!!!”. Then instead of just leaving things there, he finds it appropriate to say, “And yes, he’s expecting a child with his 41 year old Ugandan lover.”

Every man knows that it’s a crime to inflate a wopman’s age. When you tell her she looks 20 when she’s 30 she’ll jump on you with cute little pecks but when you refer to a thirty something lady as old, she will hate you forever. Zari has every right to be infuriated. Any woman would be. In fact, she should be commended for not blowing the whole issue out of proportion. As the gentleman he portrays himself, Maina should apologize on air. It’s just the right thing to do.
