Renowned Kenyan Music Promoter Honors The Jamaican Government With His Presence
The Jamaican government has invited Buddha Blaze, renowned Kenyan music promoter and Coke Studio Africa Artists manager to talk about at the ongoing 2015 Califorum EU Business Forum conference (Montago Bay, Jamaica).
He was invited at the conference alongside David Sanders – the Executive Producer of Coke Studio Africa.
What do artists and entertainers in Kenya and around Africa know about opportunities and strategies for market penetration in Africa? That’s exactly what he addressed. Blaze is also the Chief Executive Officer of Spark Africa Ltd and director at First Contact Management, is the only Kenyan invited to give a talk at the conference. He spoke about the opportunities that exist for African artists to collaborate with Caribbean artists and how they can, through music, share stories and ways of life that are relatable.
Blaze who spoke alongside South African Mr. Gerrard Foster, the co-founder – Project Fable & The New African Movement, continues to lead in Africa’s entertainment industry as an astute connector and advisor/mentor to many artists.
Blaze says, “I am honored to be invited to Jamaica to offer my music business expertise and feel special that my point of view is valued as far as in the Caribbean. This is a great opportunity to create a business link between the Caribbean and Africa because we have the same culture the similar ways of doing things. We also have a similar history of colonialism. Instead of Jamaica, Trinidad, The Bahamas only seeking to do business with Europe, and other parts of the world they should look to Africa as their permanent business partner because we shall never let them down and have a lot to offer too.”
Blaze is also the founder of celebrated hiphop events including Nairobi Rapsody that last year hosted Talib Kweli in Kenya for the first time. He is also about to announce US rapper’s Yassin Bey (formerly Mos Def) showcase in Kenya.
Organized by the Jamaican government in conjunction with the EU business community, Califorum EU Business Forum conference invites experts and businessmen from the food, music and trade sectors allover the world to see how the Caribbean can tap into these opportunities in future and discuss how the Caribbean can tap into business globally. The conference was opened with a special keynote from former Jamaican Prime Minister PJ Patterson who urged the Caribbean to look to Africa as new emerging trade partner.
While in Jamaica, Buddha Blaze has met up with Jamaican artists Tanya Stephens and Assassin who are both excited about prospects to visit. He will also be meeting a few other artists in next few days. In next few days, Buddha Blaze will also attend festivities to commemorate the April 21st 1996 visit of the Ethiopian leader Emperor Haile Selassie (viewed by the Rastafari community as a messiah in Jamaica) and meet a few other artists.
