Celebrated Author, Politician And Former BBC Broadcaster Passes On

In the literary circles, Grace Ogot’s work was praised by high-browed scholars in the academic world and fellow authors who referred to her as one of the most prolific female authors in the country.

Her books The Island of Tears, Land Without Thunder and The Promised Land were met with rave reviews, cementing her name in the literary wall of fame.

Away from the literary circles, Grace was also recognized as a politician and served as a Member of Parliament, assistant-minister and a Gem MP. In addition, Mrs Ogot was a midwife, tutor, journalist and a BBC Overseas Service broadcaster. She wore many hats.

When she was not working, Grace was a doting mother to four kids and wife to the former Chancellor of Moi University, Professor Bethuel Ogot.Roles which she served well.

Grace Ogot sadly passed away at the ripe age of 85 around 11:00 A.m upon arrival at the Nairobi Hospital.May her soul rest in peace.
