The three actors to watch out for during the series..

ABIGAIL

Abigail wants to find a husband.

She’s beautiful, single and the stylish owner of a hair salon. She feels the clock ticking and age creeping. All of these are bad omens for someone who’s in love with love.

Over the course of the series she vacillates between the emotionally unavailable Thomas and the emotionally suffocating Nelson.

She’s about to settle for Nelson but freaks out when he wants her to meet her parents.

The real problem isn’t Abigail finding a husband, it’s Abigail finding herself.

CAROL

Carol on the other hand is married. She’s attractive although a little heavier than she was on her wedding day – a painful fact that her husband, David, often reminds her of. It makes her feel insecure and a prime target for the charms of Henry – a chef who makes pastries the way he makes love – with panache and passion.

Carol is stifled by David’s controlling ways and the fact that he holds her hostage with money. He knows she fears being poor again and that she’d never leave him for a poor man…or would she? She starts to wonder whether having a husband is everything it’s cracked out to be.

JACKIE

Jackie is the least interested in love out of all our girls.

She has needs but believes having a heart – means having it broken. She’s good friends with Nelson who understands her and doesn’t judge her. She ends up dating the young and insecure Robert who doesn’t know how to handle an older woman with the requisite finesse.

They try to make a go of it but Jackie doesn’t want children. Robert thinks she’s bluffing and tries to make her change her mind but Jackie is steadfast and they end up breaking up. At the same time, Nelson – her best friend – is going through a rough patch with Jackie’s cousin, Abigail.

She’s there for Nelson when things get tough between Abigail and him. It starts out as a case of her providing a shoulder for him to cry on and ends up as the two of them developing real feelings for each other. Can the love they’ve both been searching for – have been under their noses all this time? Can friends really turn into lovers?

When Abigail gives Jackie an ultimatum, Jackie has to ask herself – what’s more important – love or family?
