Meet Night Runners Who Want Funding From County Government For Causing Fear Among Residents At Night

Four counties in Nyanza region are well associated with night runners, people who enjoy doing the very unusual things including riding on wild animals like hyenas and hippopotamuses as part of their nocturnal activities.

And now night runners in Migori and Homabay counties have called upon the county governments to fund them fr what they say is helping to boost security by causing fear at night through what they.

Chairman to the Kenya Night Runners Association, Jack Songo aka Moses Okinyi, told the Star that his association needs funds to boost their activities in the counties and that the counties should not neglect them as they distribute funds to other projects.

Songo said that his Union has domesticated 214 hyenas and hippos which its members use to ride at night as they go about their activities. Others include crocodiles and snakes.

Songo lamented that one of his members died in the line of duty as he rode a hyena at night but unfortunately an accident occurred as the hyena hit a tree stump and try to lip into a thicket. He said the burial was not befitting as they lacked funds to conduct it perfectly.

Songo has urged Sports CS Hassan Wario to ensure that his union gets funds that others get.
