Wahome Thuku Blasts UoN’s Babu Owino Over 15M Campaign Budget

Rumour has been going round that University of Nairobi student leader Babu Owino is bracing himself for another term in office as a student leader.

That is not news though. News is that the flamboyant student leader has released a campaign budget amounting to Kshs.15 million as he plans to get another term in office.

This has left tongues wagging with Wahome Thuku airing his disgust at the extravagance exhibited by the student leader.

Through his Facebook page Thuku has said:

Babu Owino to spend 15 million bob on his Sonu re-election campaigns? Give me a break. I don’t doubt the dude has the dough or a financiers for that, what you have to convince me, is that there is anything soooo big in Sonu to cost a 15M investment by any right thinking Kenyan??. What else does a modern-day Sonu (or any university) leader do other than yapping in streets and in the media? I have been a university student leader and I know students’ politics is a dry terrain. How much does UoN pay Sonu officials for example? Would it be anything enough to recover 15m? Is it money for “buying” Sonu votes? What if the the students told him they will reelect him free of charge? Unless this Owino uses the position for other monkey business, a 15M campaign budget for Sonu seat is just hot-air.
