BBC Offers A Rare opportunity For African Journalists To Spread Their Wings Beyond Africa
BBC Journalist Kumla Dumor collapsed and died on 18 January 2014 in his London home after suffering from a cardiac arrest.
His death anniversary was two days ago and BBC did something special for this man who had served BBC oh-so-exceptionally
The confident and savvy journalist was honored by BBC launching an award, the Komla Dumor award that seeks to honor other African journalists who are as remarkable as Kumla was. Those who tell African stories exceptionally by employing strong journalism skills.
According to a BBC article, they hope to “invest in the future of African journalism by offering the winner the chance to come to the BBC and share Africa’s stories with the world.”
The winner of the award will work with teams across BBC Network for three months in London and will also have the chance to broadcast on TV, radio and online, Keep in mind BBC has an audience of 265 million worldwide.
