Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru Loses Her Case Against Google Inc Over A Blog She Claims Defamed Her

Cabinet Secretary for Devolution, Anne Waiguru, has lost a petition she filed against Google Inc. in which she was looking for information that would help her prosecute a blog she claims published defamatory information about her early last year.

Anne had gone to court seeking an order that would compel Google Inc. release the identities and the informaition behind Daily Post, a blog that she alleges published information that claimed she had an affair with Gor Semelango, the rumoured fiancée to TV siren Janet Mbugua.

It was reported that Janet Mbugua had to break up with Gor after the alleged affair with Waiguru, something that has angered the cabinet secretary who wants the law to take its course against Daily Post.

In a petition filed before Judge Isaac Lenaola, Anne had sought orders that would compel Google Inc. to reveal the identity of the blog as Anne believed it had all the information about the blog. This is the information Anne thinks would help her soldier on with her case against the blog.

However, Google told the court that it had no such information and that it was only doing business with Daily Post and had no access to the information the Cabinet Secretary was demanding.

After listening to both parties, Judge Isaac Lenaola found it unnecessary to compel Google Inc. to produce the information it did not have.

This is a major blow to the cabinet secretary’s case against the Daily Post. However, the case will still go on and the judge said in case he finds it necessary that such information is needed in the course of the case, then he will know what to do.
