Kenya’s film industry pays handsomely, the era when acting was considered a “joke” is long gone. Actors and actresses are cashing in heavily from their careers.

Last night, Citizen TV’s Terryanne Chebet hosted Charles Bukeko aka Papa Shirandula and Lizz Njagah on her show to discuss the prospects of Kenya’s film industry. One thing that was made crystal clear during the show was: resilience pays.

The Kenyan film industry has come a long way to be what it is today, though it is not where many expect it to be, actors and actresses acknowledge the industry has changed. Back then, artists used to be paid peanuts from the various acting roles they played, today, however, they earn “good” money to comfortably sustain them.
