Oops! Lupita DID NOT Win Kenya’s First Oscar. Here Is Proof That Someone Else Did (Photo)
Okay before you Lupitians, Lupettes and Nyong’ettes cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war for this blasphemy, hear me out.
As it turns out Lupita did not win our first Oscar award. Yes as much as it kills me to admit she didn’t. Our first Oscar was won by Ben Kingsley. Just like Obama, Ben is half Kenyan though unlike Obama his mum is English. Ben is the son of a Rahimtulla Harji Bhanji, a Kenyan-born doctor of Gujarati Indian Ismaili Muslim Khoja descent.
Ben whose official names are Krishna Bhanji won an academy award back in 1982 when he played Mohandas Gandhi in the Academy Award-winning film Gandhi. He was named the best actor and here is ben holding his trophy.

Oh and did I mention he won Grammy Too? This was In 1984 when he acquired a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word or Non-musical Recording for The Words of Gandhi.
