Unlikely Indian-Bukusu Couple From KTN’s Piece ‘My Bukusu Darling’ Can Now Marry

I never thought it was possible especially in this time and age but true love conquers all.

It conquers economy status, huge age gaps, breaks down tribal and even racial barriers. When it comes to that true love, not even parents against your marriage can stand in your way!

In what is playing out like a Kenyan Romeo and Juliet story, Sarika Patel the Indian girl from a wealthy family can now marry her Bukusu darling Timothy Khamala. This comes after Sarika’s parents moved to court last week to stop the marriage claiming that Sarika had been kidnapped.

With or without the blessings of Sarika’s parents, the unlikely duo can marry after the 21-day window period elapsed. This was a window that the government had opened for anyone with objection to the union to file a petition before Monday.

Sarika and Timothy love affair became not only in Nang’ina village of Webuye but the country at large. It was publicized due to the rarity of the affair, it’s really rare to see an Indian woman leave alone a rich one marry a poor African man. I really wish Sarika and Patel as they embark on this beautiful albeit rocky journey
