Ghafla! Writer Rattles A Snake On Live TV

So Str8Up invited me to an interview about entertainment bloggers in Kenya last Saturday, and while I was flattered by the invitation, I opted out of the panel.

Why though? Because I let our most controversial writer, Uncle Chim Tuna go in my place. I knew the guy would give Str8Up a good show, rather than the usual drab, “how did you start? What inspired this idea?” type of questions I’m 100% sure Str8Up would have asked me.

Up goes Uncle Chim on the show, and he did not disappoint. In his usual style, he was not afraid to take shots at everyone around him, leaving the Str8Up audience going 00OOOH! Even the DJ took some time to tweet:

DJ Mr. T – hehe…ghafla….

Chim’s first target was Daily Post. When Ian Mugoya asked him about the truth of our stories, Chim said:

DJ Eynie – Lol that ghafla guy amesema ati rumours wachia daily post Heheh.

Then Chim proceeded to FIERCELY assert how Ghafla! was the best among all the people who had been invited on to the show. By that time, the audience had sussed out his abrasive personality and the tweets after that were just hilarious:

Shinobi – Huyu msee wa ghafla anakaa kutupia mtu ngumi hapo

Muchiri – Jamaa ya ghafla joto NKT “@itsBryo: Blogs wanataka kupigana kwa tv.”

Despite Standard Group having been gracious enough to invite us to THEIR show, Uncle Chim didn’t give a damn. He went ahead to diss how SDE was just talking loud, but their only advantage was that they are funded by a big company. The SDE representative didn’t take this lying down, and she began to respond in kind about how we’re uncivilized. Of course KOT didn’t miss on the irony of that

Pintolzp – Hahaha this Ghafla writter disses SDE on there own sh*t…

Nakhumicha – The beef between Ghafla vs SDE is real

Then came the moment when Uncle Chim rattled the proverbial snake. He was asked by Ian Mugoya what he thinks about Kenyans On Twitter, and he said, “I got no love for KOT. They are bullies and this year I’m on my Drake vibe. No new friends.” And like the late John Michuki said, if you rattle a snake, prepare to be bitten. The reaction from KOT was vicious. Despite Chim’s attempts to water down his statement with a few ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ later on, KOT weren’t hearing it. Their target for the day had been sighted.

But at the end of the day, the editors of what Chim terms a ‘rag’ saw it all in good fun, and so did I
