Just Where Did Churchill Get That Name? Find Out Here
Most comedians, musicians among other artists have aliases which they use when on stage. But just where/how do they come up with these names? Focus today shifts to comedian Churchill AKA Daniel Ndambuki. Have you ever wondered where that name came from?
This is how;
During one of his usual interactions, at the then popular lounge with all genre artists, the famed Kenya National Theatre upstairs bar and restaurant, which was later on christened the ‘Wasanii’ lounge, Churchill was meeting humorist artist writer the late Wahome Mutahi popularly known as Whispers after the name of the column he wrote for The Daily Nation.
Mr. Wahome often invited Mr. Ndambuki to have tea with him. Then one day as they chat he gave him the name Churchill Abednego because he wanted him to become a sophisticated Luo Prof. From then on Dan would use the name for various stage perfomances and hence the name stuck.

The comedian went on to use the name on the premier comedy show, Redykyulass, and later dropped Abednego to when Redykyulass became defunct. Churchill has become a household name in Kenya comedy that most people actually think that’s his real name.
