We Have No Apologies To Make For Using Pigs: Photo-Activist Boniface Mwangi

Yesterday, animal rights activists were up in arms over the use of pigs in Tuesday’s ‘Occupy Parliament’ demonstrations and demanded an apology from the civil society. However, one of the organizers, photo-activist Boniface Mwangi has stood his ground and insisted that they will not be making any apologies for use of pigs in the Tuesday protests to symbolize their contempt for the Members of Parliament.

In fact, Mwangi says that he and other organizers had actually planned to have 349 pigs to represent all the MPs but were set back by lack of finances.

“I am happy Members of Parliament are offended because as a Kenyan tax payer I’m offended by their courage to ask for more money. They have no shame!” he said adding, “They are lucky we arn out of pigs. If it was possible, we would have had 349 pigs but we didn’t have money for all those pigs.

Mwangi also revealed that he has no idea where the pigs ended up jesting that they were gifts to the MPs. “They were our gift to MPs and you saw that they were in good company outside Parliament. In fact when the cops tried to shove them away, they would always go back because that is where they belonged. They could smell their fellow pigs,” he joked.

Responding to claims that one of the pigs was slaughtered and fed to the rest, Mwangi pointed out that the blood was bought from Dagoretti. “No pig was hurt/ slaughtered at #OccupyParliament! We had 120 litres of cow blood bought from Dagoretti slaughter house,” declared Mwangi.
