Sports Anchor Saddique Shaban Quits KTN

Good-humored Saddique Shaban has left KTN after 8 years of service as a reporter, anchor and a host at the Weekly Sports Show. Many will remember him for his part in the launch of weekly sports paper ‘Game Yetu.’

However, Saddique was hesitant to give the exact reason for leaving the station as well as where he is headed to. It all started with this tweet; “Dear Tweeps, I’d like to inform you all that I’ve left employment at @KTNKenya and at @StandardKenya. Thank you all for watching. Much love.”

Then followed by a statement posted on his blog, in which he said;

Dear Friends and colleagues,

I’d like to inform you all that I have left employment at KTN effective today, Friday 17th may, 2013.

I feel it is time to pursue other interests after 8 years working as a Reporter and News Anchor, and a host of the Weekly Sports Show KTN Sports Final.

For the millions of my a daily viewers on KTN, I thank you all.

I leave KTN on a professional high, having given my best and having met incredible people from all walks of life.

To my colleagues, family and friends, I thank you all.

However, reliable sources intimate that there was friction between Saddique and his boss, the current head of Sports Department, Joshua Kemboi and that could be part of the reason for him to bolt.

All in all, Ghafla! wishes Saddique all the best in his next venture.
