When a film wins an award and is quickly nominated for another, then you better take note.
There’s a concept in Marketing/advertising where customers are divided into categories ranging from early adopters to laggards. I have found Kenyans in general to be in the late majority or laggards sections. Why? Most of us jump on a band wagon when it has become ‘popular.’. This movie won best short film at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards that were held in Nigeria. That is no small feat, when you trounce heavy weights in an industry that is dominated by Nigeria and South Africa. I’d written about her here and I felt the need to reiterate that. Ng’endo Mukii’s YELLOW FEVER won Best Animation Award at Kenya International Film Festival, Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice for Best Short Film and has been nominated for Best Short Film at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards. They will be held at Yenagoa, the political capital of the oil-rich Nigerian state of Bayelsa on April 20, 2013. A selection of her short films will be showcased tonight, alongsidel YELLOW FEVER.
