AFC Leopards Becomes The 1st Local Team To Launch TV Station
We know about MUTV for Manchester United, Arsenal TV, Chelsea TV among otherTV stations for major teams in the EPL. But now, Abaluhya Football Club (AFC) Leopards better known as “Ingwe” among its die-hard fans, has become the first local team to unveil its TV station.
According to a report published on Goal.com, the team has entered into a contract with pay TV channel Zuku to air their new television station in a deal worth millions of shillings. The club vice-chairman Walter Onyino said the deal will be made public soon and though he declined to state the amount involved, independent investigations have revealed that the club will be paid Sh9million.
“We have already agreed on most of the things with Zuku and they have even started shooting some of our matches and trainings as they build content for the new show,” said Onyino.
He termed the new deal as much better than the previous one which they had with the defunct Smart TV, which used to pay them Sh3million a year.
“This is all part of our efforts to become independent and build our financial base as we expand into other non-traditional ways of raising money. We understand the need to stop relying on one sponsor because ours is a major brand which should bring us more cash in the bank,” said the official.
For now AFC Leopardsfans brace up for the new Ingwe Televisionto air team news for 2013 season.
