Kenyan Photo-Activist Named GlobalPost Person of the Year
While he’s being castigated at home for his graffiti, in another part of the world, he’s a hero. Recently, photo-activist, Boniface Mwangi was named the Person of the Year by American World News Site, GlobalPost.
According to the news site, Boniface was recognized after winning the annual Prince Claus Prize and getting featured heavily in the TIME magazine cover story about ‘Africa Rising’. “He’s a political activist trying to encourage Kenyans to kick out the bad leaders and vote in new ones as part of what he calls a peaceful “ballot revolution.” With elections due in March, Kenya needs more young people like him” posted GlobalPost.
Boniface was honored alongside Malawi President Joyce Banda, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Gangnam Style hit maker, Psy. Also honored is Spain’s figure of human suffering late Amaia Egana who is said to have jumped to her death when people came to evict her from her house.
