Smart TV Throws in the Towel
Recently launched premium television content provider Smart TV has bitten the dust following the withdrawal of their Swedish investors, Net Generation Broadcasting(NGB). Smart TVs signal went off last week, affecting about 2000 subscribers whose decoders were rendered obsolete.
According to our sources, the CEO had left the company about a month ago.
Smart TV at one point offered a colourful yet affordable array of channels, ranging from sports, news, entertainment and gossip, as well as childerens’ content, all for the price of Sh990.
Subscribers are yet to get refunds for the now obsolete decoders they bought at Sh 5,000 at the time. Transmex chairman Mohammed Nyaoga said the directors of the firm would meet on Friday to determine if this was possible. Transmex owns Smart TV.
