Blasphemy Or Comedy? Machachari’s Bab Gee In Most Controversial Kenyan Film Ever

Blasphemy or comedy?

Is one of the thoughts that will run in your mind after watching the mind-splitting Kenyan film featuring one of the biggest television stars,
Machachari’s Bab gee?

The film shot entirely on location in Ukambani, Machakos to be precise, revolves around the story of ‘the betrayal of Jesus’. It so happens that Ticha who is Jesus (played by Babgee) is involved in a duel for a lady with Judas (Collins Ochieng).

This angers Judas and the fact that Ticha always wins with the ladies in Ghetto Semane infuriates him further. Judas decides to seek some advice and that’s when Petero (Biko Nyongesa, Sense8) comes in.

Over a weed session, he taunts and laughs at Judas but also advises him to ‘halla mtotoo’ and take her for a date. Judas complains how he doesn’t really have
the cash but Petero is quick to inform him that ‘mabeast wanasaka Ticha’ and there is some great cash given to whoever will sell him out. Judas gets
the cue and goes for the kill. Of course we all know how the story ends.

The fact that the film is in local slang sheng has made the film tick with the local youth audience and some few potheads are really gunning for the
film to win the top prize this Saturday at the Machakos festival film competition 2015. The question is, did some of Jesus’ disciples smoke weed and the Bible doesn’t say? Or better yet, did Jesus himself date and fight over women or was he just a smooth operator? Well, check out the film and judge for yourself. If impressed, remember to vote for the film by texting MFF33 to 21092 or vote online via www.machawood.co.ke (vote Get Some Money by Koi Ngunjiri).
