Run For A Cause Then Party In The Wild With Code Red!
The Lari marathon gives participants an opportunity to experience the Kenyan wild in a most unique way on the 1st of March, 2014 from 7 a.m.
This marathon is run within Kereita Forest a protected forest reserve within the Aberdare Forest range located at an altitude of 2000 feet above sea level. The race is in support of conservation and community projects in the Kereita area in Lari District , about 50 minutes’ drive from Nairobi.
Lari Marathon 2014 is expected to attract competitors from all over the world from walkers, to fun runners, amateurs, to world renowned professionals. Many athletes from Kenya and around the world join in the race, both to face this challenging wild race and for the chance to rub shoulders with some of Kenya’s incomparable long distance superstars.
The marathon is run on dirt roads and in the middle of the forest, through some of the world’s most beautiful and natural scenery. Its picturesque setting makes the marathon all the more worthwhile. Your safety is put in mind; plenty of game rangers and forest guards, water stations and first aid points also provided.
Lari marathon entrants facilitate the conservation effort by fundraising and seeking sponsorship for their participation, with the funds going directly to the conservation projects, community development, and education through a robust educational scholarships and computer for schools project. This makes the project a very worthwhile to participate in.
The day will come to end with a concert courtesy of Code Red! Performances will be done by The Villagers Band, Maddtraxx, Dj Adrian among many others.
