LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THE MWAFAKA AWARDS FEMALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR NOMINEES

1. Gloria Muliro

One of the most controversial female gospel artists around. She made headlines last year for copying the song ‘Follow You,’ lambasting lesbians on Facebook, and fighting with Willy Paul over the rights to their mega hit, ‘Sitolia.’ Nevertheless, she has one of the biggest fanbases and has scooped many awards before this.

2.  Shiru wa GP

Did you know that the GP in her name stands for “God’s Property?” While starting out as a gospel artist targeted towards the older crowd, Shiru wa GP has begun releasing songs that appeal to a younger audience, such as her recent collabo with L Jay Maasai – Laleiyo. Might this tactic win her the coveted Mwafaka Awards prize?

3. Kambua

Her diversification into TV has been a double-edged sword, as it meant that she has not released as many songs as you would expect, however, her TV presence means that she has had more constant exposure throughout the year than any other female. May this win her the Mwafaka Best Female Artist award?

4. Joyce Omondi

Despite taking a break from showbiz to pursue her studies in the US, Joyce Omondi still remains legible for the Mwafaka Award, as they judge people based on the last year’s exploits, Her song Kweli was rather nice. Would you vouch for her?

5. Mercy D Lai

A quote from the lass herself:

“Let Psalm 150 be my prayer to all of us and that we shall worship in truth and Spirit. May the Lord be worshiped because that’s what we were created to do by Him. Through worship let us see the manifestation of The Holy Spirit working in our lives.”

6. Carol David

Despite having a Western name, this Nyanza woman is a modern Luo gospel melodious powerhouse. Who do you think deserves to win the prize? Leave your vote below:
