Meet The Brains Behind ‘Chico Leco’

Born in Nairobi, Sunny Dolat’s multicultural heritage has been instrumental in defining his aesthetic,

an intoxicating marriage of the practical and the visionary. His background in visual arts set the stage for a career in evolving concepts in beauty in places as diverse as fashion shoot mood boards and luxury hotels of international repute. Sunny also recently released his first collection as a fashion designer, the cross-seasonal menswear treasure trove beautifully named “Sun Seeker”. Focused on fit and cut, it maps multiple evolving definitions of masculinity in a smooth journey through fabric, colour and print.
Sunny Dolat is also the brains behind Chico Leco, an online fashion store and initiative promoting local design and designers. He served as the executive producer of Chico Leco Presents, Kenya’s first online fashion showcase, a collection of 8 conceptual videos bringing together fashion designers, stylists, and photographers.  Sunny is also a programs coordinator at The NEST, a multidisciplinary arts and culture space that serves as a functional playground for artists, thinkers and curious minds.
Sunny Dolat has styled editorials for Town & Country, True Love and Drum magazines as well as for online fashion photography experiment known as Stingo. Rather than simply constructing looks for visual harmony, he aims to tell the elaborate back stories of characters, convey their present emotions and hint at their future aspirations. Successfully infusing the fanciful and fantastic into sense and sensibility, his final looks are unusual and sumptuous, capturing every layered nuance of every special moment.
