HBO’s The Wire Actor Tweets About Nairobi Half Life

American actor, Wendell Pierce, seems to be aware of Kenya’s latest (if not only) blockbuster gangster film.

Today, he tweeted about the film being picked as the country’s official selection at the Academy Awards. Here’s the tweet he made out to his 32,000 followers at 1712hrs local time:

“Kenyan Crime Drama ‘Nairobi Half Life’ Is Country’s Entry For Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. Nollywood may break thru!“

Wendell Pierce is mostly known for the five seasons he played the hilarious Baltimore police officer, Bunk Mooreland, on the hit HBO show, The Wire, considered by many as the best TV show ever made.

He also played a cop, Candyman, on Third Watch and an FBI officer on Numbe3rs. He is currently on another HBO by The Wire creator, Treme. In film, he has appeared on Waiting to Exhale, Bulworth, Ray and Horrible Bosses among others.
