MORE GHAFLA! REFORM: Showing Respect To The Women Around Here
During Ghafla’s come-up, it was very much an “anything goes” environment, but as we grow, we have to refine the awesome product we have built, step by step.
Last year, we made a sweeping change, where we decided to delete each and every nude photo from the site, but that seemingly was not enough. Despite having no nude photos, there were still stories abound about “Vera’s Bodacious Buttocks,” or “Avril’s Bouncing Boobs.” Clearly, we had only taken a half measure. There was also a need to address the addressing of women on our website with a lack of respect.
A tricky prospect, since the judgement of people’s looks is part and parcel of showbiz, so we couldn’t ditch it altogether. So the balance we came up with is to talk about women, but in respectful terms. Therefore, whereas before you had an article about, “Sarah Hassan Flaunts Her Boobs In A Revealing Dress,” now we’ll frame a story about the same topic as, “Sarah Hassan Looks Stunning and Effortlessly Flawless In This Dress.”
And the funny thing is, we’ve found ways to increase the hits these ‘tamer’ articles get regardless. The ‘boobs’ story got 10,000 hits, while the ‘flawless dress’ story got 17,000 hits. All this creates a more palatable product for all ages and genders, plus a more advertiser-friendly environment. Hope you enjoy the new Ghafla. More reforms to come.
