A night full of drama it was, in the full sense of it, as Kenyan actors battled it out Tuesday night (28th May 2013) in the third edition of the Actors Monologue Challenge at the prestigious Michael Joseph Center situated at Safaricom House.

Sharlyn Mungai did it once again and retained her AMC title to become a third time champion in a fever pitch stage showdown that saw Brian Ogola and new kid on the block Ken Kibet scoop the second and third place respectively.

The three walked away with;

Thespian Elsaphan Njora scooped the Audience Choice Competition where an engaging audience decide who the best actors is, amongst those who enter on a first-come-first serve basis on the day of the event. These competitions that saw five entries, serves as a curtain raiser and also give an opportunity to those brave enough at the spur of the moment to perform for a live audience.

Njora walked away with WALK TV and GOTv humper and got a direct entry into the 4th edition of the AMC.

The main championship battle was fierce and indeed brought to the fore the high level of talent that is on offer.

This edition which saw a bumper audience attending, saw 15 actors face two new judges David Morin of Slingshot Productions and Susan Wanjiru who is still in the glow of the success of the movie “Something Necessary”.

Besides the great prizes Sharlyn and the other top three actors received, she also won a unique opportunity to perform at this weekends Madaraka Celebrations and may also perform at the State House Luncheon to be held on the same day.

Plans are underway to have a monologue specially prepared for Sharlyn to go in line with the celebrations. Going with her explosive talent we expect her to impress the audiences on the day including President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Sharlyn and Brian also won a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend a 9 week Hollywood Actors Course at the Slingshot Seminars set to start in June.

The next event is scheduled for July on a date to be communicated.
