Watch Poison Ivy At Safaricom’s Michael Joseph Centre!
This play has run before, so it was a pleasant surprise when I saw Caroline Mutoko posting about it. That stopped me straight in my tracks.
I just shared about an event happening at the same venue this saturday, read about it here. Now, the first rule of marriage from the ‘garden of eden’ was, man shall leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife. That law when flouted, is the basis for an epic battle. Mother in law is infact one of the most popular programs on telly. But what happens when the problem is not the mother in law, but a sister?
Meet Poison Ivy, the one on whom this play is predicated upon. The synopsis is simple. “Chris and Olive just got married and can’t wait to start their new life together. Unknown to them, Chris’s favorite sister Ivy has a grudge against Olive, because Olive is his new number one. Ivy wants her place in Chris’s life back. Chris on his part, firmly believes that family comes first… but which family?”

From the synopsis above, it is clear that this is a a story line that a lot of people can relate to. Sibling rivalry is what younger siblings undergo, not wanting to let siblings go and start new lives is what adults grapple with.
The play will be staged at the Michael Joseph center, Safaricom house on the 5th of April at 7pm. For tickets call 0725040951.

“In brief Poison Ivy is a captivating and hilarious play about a young married couple whose bond is quickly tested by the intrusion of a Pretty but Poisonous sister.” is how the director describes it. Below is a video of Wholesome Entertainment, explaining what these guys do. The are the people behind this awesoem production, with Seth Busolo being the creative director.
