Revealed: This is Where Maina Kageni will be Spending his Valentines….Utakufa na Wivu #MKRTT

Only one day before the biggest day of the month is finally here with us. I surely can’t wait but I doubt if it’s the case for some people I know. For girls especially, I bet it’s going to be a tough weekend when all their girlfriends with flaunting their boyfriends, the pricey gifts they got them and the exotic places they got them.

But all that is nothing compared to how and where Maina and co. will be spending their valentines. If this isn’t the ultimate dream package, then I don’t know what is. I’m talking about luxury, comfort and pure opulence somewhere in the confines of Naivasha.

The place in question is Kongoni Lodge which is located 110 km from Kenya’s capital city Nairobi and 27km from the turn-off to Moi South Lake Road is Naivasha Kongoni Lodge. This private getaway is as rare and impressive as the name after which it is named (Kongoni is the Swahili name for Hartebeest). Crafted from simple bush stone, local acacia, Leleshwa and Olive woods with a beautiful thatched Makuti roof.

It further overlooks Lake Oloiden and Lake Naivasha, only a few minutes away from Hell’s gate national Park, secluded on 30 acres of private land, it is close to Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, 30 to 40 minutes away from the Great Rift Valley Golf course and 20 minutes away from Mt. Longonot National Park.

Now before that sinks in, here is what Maina and basically everyone who will be part of the Maina kageni road trip tour will experience from the 12^th to 14^th of February.

For Ksh 40,000 for couples, you get an all inclusive Love of Wine weekend package and full board package meal. Not to fret if you are single though, there is also something for you. At Ksh 30,000, all inclusive Love of Wine weekend package and a full board meal plan.

Just to cut the story short, this is how Maina will be spending his weekend with you if you would like to join him:

Day 1 – Friday 12th Feb 2016

1500H – Late

Expected arrivals and check-in for valentine’s guests at

1830H – 1900H

Mingle and meet other guests and the wine experts during a pre-dinner cocktail at pool deck

1900H – 2100H

Dinner served at the main restaurant and pool side with paired wines and selection of soft music, jikos and bonfire.

Guests retire at their own leisure.

Day 2 – Saturday 13th Feb 2016

0700H – 1000H

Breakfast served at the pool deck and main restaurant.

1100H – 1200H

An enjoyable session to learn how to cook with wine conducted by Chef Richard Langat.

1230H – 1400H

Enjoy our signature cocktail and lazy lunch.

1400H – 1700H

Enjoy boat ride, have some nature walk, visit to Aquila flower farm or play indoor games / shoot pool/treasure hunt for wines

1800H – 1900H

Enjoy our (sip and guess game) guests will learn fun facts about wine.

1900H – 2200H

Guests are seated for the five course-fine dining experience. The evening will be guided by our wine Sommelier. In between courses guests will have an opportunity to gain deeper understanding of varieties of grapes, the regions they are grown and the suggested pairings. This is aimed to demystify the world of wines and get you on good grounding to ensure you build on your wine knowledge.

Following the wine discussion on the courses will be served and guests can retire at their own leisure.

Day 3 – Sunday 14th Feb 2016

Champagne breakfast served at the restaurant

1230H – 1400H

BBQ lunch served pool side.

1400H – 1600H

Being Valentine’s Day a late Check option will be available, all within reason.
