Experience the Perfect Fusion of Modern & Contemporary Music
Thum will take place on the 28th September at the Michael Joseph Center, Safaricom House between 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Charges will be Kshs.350 advance and Kshs. 500 at the gate.
Popular at poetry events, seen at the Nairobi Fashion Market this year with Aaron Rimbui, at Ndoto with Aziza and at The Exhibition with Afrology, Lele Ngoma have put together their grandest concert for this year. They are calling it Thum.
The night will feature songs in vernacular accompanied by contemporary instrumentals. Much as ‘thum’ is a Luo word for ‘music’, it will be a blend of Kikuyu, Luo, Kiswahili, English and a bit of Creole…maybe.
They aim to celebrate cultural identities that unite us; Kenyans. Bitings and drinks will be served and security provided.
The opening acts will be the talented Change Otieno performing live for the first time, Siri ya Muziki as well as the young, fresh Nouvelle who have a distinct afro-rock feel to their music.
Having worked with and shared a stage with the big names in the industry; Ayub Ogada, The Villagers Band, Elani, Patricia Kihoro, Aaron Rimbui, Winyo, Aziza among others Lele are now taking off. Immediately after the concert, the band will start recording their album, which they plan to release some time next year.
Part of the proceeds goes to Haki foundation which offers support and creates awareness on kidney diseases.
