Five ALL TIME Hottest Events in Kenya
Yes, there have been a number of events that have been rolled out on Kenya soil but there are those that have been consistent and haven’t disappointed. So, here are the top five events thus far;
#5 Party in The Wild
Considered an event for hardcore clubbers, the event is organized by Green Lantern Entertainment and Capital Travels. The third edition of Party in The Wild was held at the Naro Moru River Lodge in August and the merrymakers had three days and two nights of extreme partying!! After successfully mounting three editions, Party in The Wild makes it in my top five illest event for being biggest camping and partying experience in Kenya.
#4 Earthdance Nairobi
Earthdance is a worldwide movement that started in 1997 and has been held annually since in more than 500 locations around 80 countries. Kenya joined the Earthdance movement and held its first event in 2009, and the festival has been improving ever since. This is the ultimate event for electro music lovers as they get a chance to celebrate the earth at a two-day festival. This year’s event will be held at Maasai Lodge, Kitengela on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23. The event is brought to you by 6AM entertainment, Turbochill and their supporters.
#3 Thursday Nite Live
Since its inception in November 2011, this music series has been happening every single Thursday of the week. This is the event where you get to experience EVERY type of music; ranging from soulful ambient sounds of talented Kenyan, some jazz & fusion, some roots reggae and afro jazz. This is the event to attend if music from the likes of Barbara Guantai, Sauti Sol, The Village Band, Yunasi, Eric Wainaina, Sarabi and Aziza Muzik is what you relish.
#2 Tusker Lite Experience
After flying in Donnel Jones, Joe Thomas and now (this weekend) Johnny Gill, Tusker Lite Experience is the event to always look forward to. The Tusker Lite experience is about creating a musical experience and the so far the artistes who have been featured have definitely transcended that. With the timeless music, revelers at this event have always had a fantastic music experience! So for me, this event comes second.
#1 Blankets & Wine
This by far is the best thing that could ever happen in Kenya as far as events are concerned. It is a picnic-style open concert that showcases different genres of Afro fusion music. With its September edition (BLANKETS & WINE XXXVII) going down last weekend, the organizers have done fans justice by flying in the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Lira, Liquideep, Lady Jay Dee and TKZee. Kenyan musicians like Muthoni the DQ, Eric Wainaina, Sauti Sol, Octopizzo (made his debut at the event last weekend) among others have graced different editions of Blankets & Wine. For this, Blankets & Wine is Kenya’s leading music event yet.
