Next Big Thing: The Kids That Rocked DJ Cleo’s Concert

DJ Cleo might not be as widely popular in Kenya as he is in his home country but there is fan base and there was anticipation leading up to the Fahrenheit Party, which would his first concert in the region. For a fairly unknown artiste, he got huge press. Travelling with him, and much less known were the Teddy Bears.

The concert had big local names opening for the South African Kwaito DJ. From the highly rated Just-A-Band, the BET-nominated Camp Mulla and club staple, Madtraxx, the last name on anyone’s lips was Teddy Bears.

But anyone who arrived at the venue thinking that the Teddy Bears were set-fillers or just there for a consolation performance was definitely proved wrong. In a night that saw brilliance from everyone involved, the group put on the most energetic performance of the night, which had the crowd singing along to songs they hadn’t heard prior to that night.

The Teddy Bears have previously performed in Zimbabwe and are signed to DJ Cleo’s Will Of Steel. Judging from Saturday night’s performance, we can expect nothing but greatness from the young quartet.
