Emmanuel Jal Launches International NGO Coalition
Former child soldier and UN Goodwill Ambassador, Emmanuel Jal, has launched Global Truce 2012 NGO Coalition in London together with other leading NGOs from around the world. The coalition of NGOs also includes Jeremy Gilley’s Peace One Day and Interpeace.
The event was attended by other internationally renown NGOs like Mines Advisory Group, War Child and BRAC from Bangladesh. Others joined the event via video, they are Viva Rio and ACCORD. The event was part of the commitment to Peace Day 21 September 2012.
Jal, who experienced war firsthand in South Sudan, is the founder of Gua Africa. The charity is involved in building schools and providing scholarships for children living in refugee camps and Nairobi slums. He is most famously known for his music about life as a child soldier.
