Tribalism Rears Its Ugly Head As Machakos People Grumbled Loudly Because a ‘Kikuyu’ Lady Was Named Miss Tourism Machakos

You would think that after what happened in 2007/2008 we would know better than to resort to tribal drivel, but it seems that the hate between tribes has intensified.

Especially on social media, if I had a coin for every time a person on social media trashed talked a ‘rival’ tribe I would have bought a mansion in Runda.

Keep in mind that these were the same people that showed a united front during the Westgate Massacre, Garissa Massacre and the collapse of a building in Huruma. But just cause of our apparent political alignment we suddenly go ape-sh*t crazy .We become suspicious of each other, throw stereotypes in each other’s faces and fling foul accusations at each other.

Tribal hate once again reared its ugly head after a fun event “Miss Tourism Machakos County’ after one Karen Muriithi was crowned Miss Tourism Machakos County.

Some of the people from the county called this crowning a grand betrayal and accused the pageant organizers of importing ‘characters’ and wasting their resources .

We must start embracing Nationhood. She was not the judge and after all she is a resident, born and raised in Machakos.
