Meet Iona McReath. The Stunning Fashion Designer and Daughter to Kiko Romeo’s Founder Ann McCreath

Back before we knew Gucci, Balenciaga or even Vera Wang, one Kenyan designer formed a part of our childhood. Anne McReath of the Kiko Romeo Fame. Even though we could not afford it, the name Kiko Romeo struck a chord with many Kenyans.

And as it is custom in many cultures, Kiko Romeo’s founder Anne is passing over the torch to her daughter Iona. For 19 years Iona has been at the helm of fashion watching her mum prepare for many fashion shows and now Iona has her own fashion house ‘Kikoti’.

A fashion house that has been going strong for the last two years.

Kikoti apparently means “The Place Where Life Began” in Maasai and Samburu languages and not coat like most of us thought. And the organization not only aims at creating beautiful fashion pieces but also spread awareness on the poaching menace.

The ‘Kikoti’ fashion line is a stand against poaching after she got inspired by Dr Paula Kahumbu’s “Hands off Our Elephants” campaign.
