After Niko Na Safaricom Live in Meru, What Next?
The Niko Na Safaricom series of concerts ended its first leg at the Kinoru Stadium with performances by the six selected Safaricom ambassadors and other guest artistes. The finale makes way for the next leg of the tour which will take place in Kisumu.
The event started at 7:00 p.m. with Meru based Ameru crew being the first act on stage. Next up was Lois Kim who entertained the crowd with hits such as Ndathima Ringi and Ni Ngai. After a highly energetic performance she was followed on stage by yet another popular gospel act Ben Githae.
The first of the Niko Na Safaricom Live ambassadors to go on stage were the members of the hip hop group, Camp Mulla. They were followed by Size 8, who, as usual, gave an electric performance.
Sauti Sol were up next and performed selected hits from their albums, starting with Coming Home and finishing off with the highly popular Soma Kijana. Jaguar spoke about picking the best leaders when election time comes then performed his latest hit, Matapeli and finished it up with one of his earlier tracks, Nikuskize.
Gospel music is popular in Meru as it is in other parts of Nairobi so Jimmi Gait’s performance was sure to be explosive. He did not disappoint, with well-choreographed moves, he performed hit after hit and left the crowd yearning for more.
Reggae artiste Wyre is the king of Meru. The reception he got is sure to have made some of the other artistes jittery. The chemistry between him and the audience was awesome and with his dancers, he delivered a performance that his Meru fans will not forget in a hurry.
Controversial musician, Mike Rua closed out the Meru tour with the last performance of the night and he left the audience in stitches with his cheeky lyrics. The performances were followed by music sets from DJ Hassan and DJ 7, Size 8’s small sister, who remained on the decks till morning.
The next concert will be held in Kisumu starting on the 6th of October and if the Meru concert is anything to go by, Kisumu fans have a lot in store for them.
