After Senator Mike Sonko and Music Mogul Joe Kariuki, Meet This Young Man From Western Kenya Who is Redifining Philanthropy
“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Those are the wise words of one Ralph Waldo Emerson and which I suspect Senator Mike Sonko, Music Mogul Joe Kariuki and now business man Henry Waswa draw inspiration from.
For the longest time we have been fascinated by the likes of Mike Sonko with his Sonko Rescue team and Joe Kariuki of Candy n Candy productions who have gone out of their way to help the underprivileged in society. They have fed the hungry, supported the old and even saved the poor from the pangs of prison all in aim to make an impact and make a change. This is noble alright but the two also hold certain positions in society so they are pretty much obliged to do the same.
There is however a certain fellow by the name Henry Waswa who is doing exactly the same in parts of Western Kenya; creating quite a positive impact and here is the interesting part; he’s not leveraging on anything. This attracted our attention and we sort to find out who exactly Henry Waswa was and why he had embarked on the sacrificial journey of helping out the less unfortunate making sure he leaves the world a better place than he left it.

Well as we came to find out, being brought up in a poor background is one of the major reasons Henry Waswa has gone out of his way to ensure that other young people in his neighbourhood don’t go through the same predicament he went through when he was growing up- when the world seemed to have anything to offer apart from suffering.
Born in 1986, Henry Waswa came from a humble background somewhere in Western Kenya in a place called Sirisia where he spent most of his life hand to mouth. Actually after High School life seemed hopeless until the year 2008 where he set on a journey to Mombasa to see a close friend in the promise that something forthcoming would arise.
It is there that Henry Waswa with the help of the said friend managed to secure a friendly loan which enabled him to start a small boutique and later a fast food joint somewhere in Bamburi. He committed his all and it is from there that he started seeing light at the end of the tunnel. The fast food joint diversified into a fancy sports bar by the name Motengene in Mtwapa and as they say the rest is history.

Henry Waswa through the help of God, who he attests as the biggest source of his success is the now the proud owner of 3 other clubs across the country with other vested interests in car hire business and also real estate where he had invested to a tune of a 100 million.
Yes, he is a successful young man and he has put it upon himself to invest the same in other younger people in aim to give back to society ensuring that majority of young people in his region realize their maximum potential and this he has done by for example paying school fees for numerous kids in Western Kenya and supporting various football clubs in Western region. He totally understands that growth in a young person comes in various ways.
And it’s this commitment and sacrifice which has attracted many and Henry Waswa is now being urged to vie for a political seat in the region so keep your eyes open for the next Obama or rather a younger version of him.
