An Electrifying New Series To Hit Your Screens!

Zuku is proud to announce the commissioning of a new exciting drama series from Kenyan production house, Awali Entertainment Limited.

Produced by award-winning film maker Wanuri Kahiu and Rebecca Chandler, the 12 episode series, is slated for broadcast in February 2014 on the Pay-TV’s ZukuAfrika channel.“This is our first foray into drama, and we are excited to be developing well-made, home grown programming to our audiences,” said Hannelie Bekker,Managing Director of Wananchi Programming, adding, “Investing in East African talent and content is of great importance to Zuku.”

The newly commissioned drama was selected out of more than 60 proposals sent by producers from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa, following a request for proposals communicated earlier in the year by Zuku for unique, entertaining and marketable content.

Wanuri Kahiu, Writer and Director, of Awali Entertainment Ltd, said they were delighted to be collaborating with Zuku on their first dramatic series production.“Awali has been put in the unique position of developing a compelling drama that challenges the core of people’s ambition,” she said, adding: “It questions the lengths people will go to in order to maintain power and influence in a world plagued by corruption and scandal.

According to Wanuri, the character driven plot of the series is rife with intriguing story twists, suspense portrayed in a local setting and is bound to
resonate with Zuku’s audience.
