Another Naija Attack On The Kenyan Musical Scene? This Time Its Bez Idakula
What started as a trickle has clearly turned into a flood and it appears the Nigerian brothers are not about to stop their incursions to the Kenyan music and showbiz scene. They will grab any platform and turn it into the proverbial staircase to heaven. This time round I am hating neither the player nor the game as man must live. In steps Bez Idakula!
Okay proper introductions demand that I say multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and composer Emmanuel Bezhiwa Idakula. Well for starters, he was the first Nigerian artist to have his single ‘That Stupid Song” premiere on the renowned BET 106 & Park (In a country of multiple award winners that is an award in it’s own right) and also had six nominations in 2012 Headies;
Bez received five nominations in the 2012 Headies,
- Nigerian music awards, for Recording Of The Year (single “Stupid Song”),
- Best R ‘N’ B Single (“Stupid Song”),
- Best R ‘N’ B/Pop Album (Super Sun),
- Best Collaboration (Stupid Song featuring Praiz),
- Best Vocal Performance, and Hip Hop World Revelation
For someone who went against the tide and chose guitar music instead of the hugely Hip Hop or Afri pop, Bez has done well for himself and if his engagement is anything to go by, this is a brother who does not misfire whatever the target and his targets are high! He got engaged to his long-time love, Bolatito Ladoja, the daughter of Ex-governor of Oyo state, Rasheed Ladoja. Bolatito is a corporate banker with FCMB.
He has an album out Super Sun containing the popular lead song ‘Stupid Song’. Bez Idakula will be making his attack per see on the Coke Studio Africa Artist Takeover. Hopefully the odd favor him always.
