Apart From Lupita Nyong’o, Here Are Other African Stars Who Shone At This Year’s Oscars
Lupita is certainly making her splash in the Hollywood, magazine covers, fashion campaigns and interviews with the who and who’s of Hollywood and an Oscar was the icing on the cake.
The Oscar winner is however not the only one making Africa super proud. She is joined by two other Africans who shone at the Oscars

Barkhard plays Abduwali Muse one of the Pirates in critically acclaimed film which is based on a true story, Captain Philips. With Tom Hanks as the lead actor, the film portrays the volatile situation at the Somali-Mombasa coastline where an American Cargo Ship ferrying goods such as food hijacked. Barkhard is originally from Somalia and just like Lupita,he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in his first major acting role. Unfortunately he lost to Lupita’s friend,Jared Leto

His parents are Nigerian but he was raised in Britain but has also spent a substantial amount of time in his homeland. He played lead character Solomon Northup in “12 Years a Slave,” and was nominated for best actor but sadly lost to Matthew McConaughey of Dallas Buyers Club.Chiwetel has been in other movies such as four brothers, Salt and Love Actually
