As You Worry About Lunch Money, An Italian Designer Is At The Serena, Selling Suits For KSH 700,000. And This Is Why I Bought Mine!(photos)

I am  about to introduce to you, ladies and gentlemen, Angelo Petrucci, Chief Master Tailor for Brioni globally. He tailors designer suits. He has fitted 38 presidents, Hollywood stars, footballers and anyone who doesn’t care about cost but appreciates luxury. He landed yesterday -courtesy of Little Red- to fit Kenya’s VVIP and anyone who can pay Sh 700,000 for a suit without feeling dizzy. But that is not all.

For the next three days,a twaddle of very important men  will walk into Serena to have their sizes taken for their bespoke suits. They will l choose from 20 shades of blue then they will go through the linings and then choose from 200 different types of buttons then spend another 30mins talking about the collar. 30 rigorous minutes  discussing a bloody collar! He will then from his obviously fat bank account pay   a hefty amount few shillings shy of a million to have a suit delivered to him in a month or so!

Angelo, the suits connoisseur, will then use about 7000 stitches back in Italy to make his suit by hand which he will hand to him in 5 weeks time. Angelo Petrucci boats, “Brioni does not tailor suits per se, we make a second skin”.

It will be mind blowing to see the who is who walk down to the Serena to have a taste of Brioni’s Haute Couture-

Brioni suits are worn by Pierce Brosnan in all of his Bond movies and by Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. Brioni, a famous Italian bespoke house, was introduced to Bond by costume designer Lindy Hemming in the movie GoldenEye. In the book Dressed to Kill – James Bond The Suited Hero, Lindy Hemming explains that she wanted a company capable of tailoring in the Savile Row manner, and – because of GoldenEye’s tight shooting schedule – could produce a lot of suits very quickly. She also wanted something that that was sheer luxury, unmistakably synonymous with expensiveness.

I have no idea why this has made such a fuss especially now that I know that Victor Maina can make suit quite as good. But it is all in the mind. Look at the stars who’ve won these suits! The exciting thing is that the suit will have your name on it.

Have a look at the suits :
